Celebrating Independence Day means wearing something red, white and blue, attending a 4th of July parade, and going to see fireworks. Watching the night sky filled with cascading colors and loud explosions makes us all feel very patriotic.

Festivities including games, and a pork chop dinner sponsored by the Beech Grove Lions Club, start around 6 pm. Parking is free, but parking spaces are limited inside the park. Bring chairs, blankets, even a picnic basket if you’ve a mind to (but no alcohol, please). Fireworks start at dusk.

The Stars and Stripes Celebration is an annual 4th of July event, featuring a concert by the Lafayette Citizens Band and the Indiana All-Star Show Choir. Entertainment starts at around 7 pm. Fireworks follow at dusk.
