Along with everything else, we saw most of our favorite summertime hangouts with closed doors due to COVID last year.
Now, with the hot, humid Indiana summer temps rising, all of us Hoosiers are desperately looking for a place to cool off with a splash. Great news! We have several public swimming destinations ready and back in action!
Come with Beck’s Auto Center, your auto repair shop in Lafayette, IN, as we show you some of the hottest summer destinations to cool down this summer!
Tropicanoe Cove – Columbian Park
Tropicanoe Cove is located in Lafayette’s historic Columbian Park. For those who love a little excitement with a splash, Tropicanoe Cover offers the spiraling Banana Peel tube slide, Tiki-Twist slides. Challenge your friends to a little competition on the Riptide Racer. If relaxing in a tube is a little more your speed, Tropicanoe Cove also offers Cattail Crick, a delightful, winding lazy river. For the littlest ones in the family, Tropicanoe Cove offers a more shallow pool and splash pad-like features.
Castaway Bay – Armstrong Park
Castaway Bay is located next to Armstrong park on Beck Lane. With a zero-entry feature, Castaway Bay offers a beach-like feel to entering the water, and it includes water basketball and a fun bubble bench.
Prophetstown Aquatic Center
Come see the Prophetstown Aquatic Center! The zero-entry leisure pool and body flume slide are currently undergoing repairs but expected to open in July 2021. The park features a lazy river and a tube slide that are flanked in native wildflowers all around. Several State Park events are taking place this summer in the aquatic park if you’d like a little more than swimming to keep the little ones entertained.
Located on the north side of Lafayette near Vinton elementary school is the zero-entry Vinton Pool with lap lanes, water geysers, and large umbrellas to keep you shaded from the sun’s rays. This location can also be rented for private parties after regular hours!
West Lafayette Municipal Pool
Tucked behind Happy Hollow School (the current city offices) just off Salisbury are three heated pools with varying depths to accommodate you and your family’s aquatic abilities: a baby pool, an intermediate pool, and a deep pool with diving boards. There are shaded structures and picnic areas as well. Come see West Lafayette Municipal Pool!
